I don’t use the shell often, and I can say with certainty that I haven’t made more than 50 read operations in the shell. I am also sure that I am not the only one with the same issue. I thought it would get resolved rather quickly, but it has been accumulating in the thousands for several days.

I’m seeing exactly the same. Been following the tutorials over the last few days and seeing 10K+ Read Ops.
