Does FaunaDB have a solution for data sovereignty regulations?
Some enterprise customers especially government ones require that data resides inside the country.
This is trivial for server-ful (e.g. SQL, MongoDB, etc.) databases, easy to do with AWS DynamoDB and other managed database services.
Can FaunaDB do the same?
Soon, region selection is an important feature that we are currently working on.
The idea is to allow you to select the regions where you want your database to live (and eventually even select your cloud provider if you’d like that iirc) instead of by default being globally distributed over all regions.
There is no ETA yet though as far as I know.
Other Fauns: please correct me if I’m wrong.
We are considering FaunaDB for a customer for whom data residency is important. Is region selection already available now? Or is the ETA for this feature known?
Has there been an update on this? I can’t use Fauna if I can’t guarantee EU data residency.
